VOLODJA BALZALORSKY, violin JAKSA ZLATAR, piano (Croatia) This showcase will feature two first performances in USA: Sonata for violin and piano No.1 (1974) by renowned Croatian contemporary composer Andelko Klobucar (1931) and Something wild for violin solo (1988) by renowned Slovenian contemporary composer Nenad First (1964). The showcase program includes also famous works for violin and piano by Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms and Ernest Bloch VOLODJABALZALORSKY is an internationally acclaimed concert violinist who has performed as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician in many music festivals and concert series throughout Europe, and North America. He performs with several well-known international groups and ensembles. Volodja Balzalorsky is also Professor of Violin at Music Academy of University of Ljubljana. Numerous highly praised concerts (international festivals and concert series), broadcasts, CD and TV recordings in various countries, have established his reputation as an artist with a sensitive, intelligent, and intuitive gift of interpretation, a polished technique, and a rich, full tone. JAKSA ZLATAR is one of the leading Croatian pianists. He is Professor of piano and piano teaching methods at music academies in Zagreb and Ljubljana. Jaksa Zlatar is particularly active in the field of chamber music. Apart from being a performing artist, Mr. Zlatar has held seminars on piano teaching and has been a member of juries at international piano competitions. He is Artistic director of the Croatian Youth Music Scene and the vice-president of EPTA-Croatia . He has won several awards which the award “Svetislav Stancic” stand out. As a DUO, Volodja Balzalorsky and Jaksa Zlatar appeared for the first time in 2001. They have been a regular guests at international music festivals and concert series in Croatia, Slovenia, Italy and Portugal.
