Most often, Tillman's sparse, intimate recordings and worn vocal delivery elicit comparisons to Nick Drake, or contemporaries such as Will Oldham or Jason Molina. However, on Minor Works, Tillman's first "studio" album (featuring a full rhythm section), the touchstone sounds more like Neil Young's Harvest or the ragged 70's Nashville of Heartworn Highways. Tilllman has toured Europe and the US extensively with the likes of Damien Jurado, Rocky Votolato, Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter, Denison Witmer, and Josh Rouse. J. Tillman recently finished touring with David Bazan. His record Minor Works, is now available for the first time in the US, online and at independent record stores. "Intimate, confessional... Lovely, late-night album" - MOJO [Minor Works]
