The Invincible Czars - one foot in the past, the other constantly striding towards something new. After celebrating five years as a band in 2007, the I-Czars had their biggest year ever. The eclectic Red River rockers haven't taken a well-deserved break - Instead, they took two west coast tours, one opening for good friends Estradasphere, and near-constant regional gigging around Texas that would keep most bands busy, but not the Czars. In addition to the constant gigging, they also logged studio time recording both their definitive version of Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker" to be released Dec 1, 2007), as well as an original score to the Russian silent film "Aelita, Queen of Mars" (to be released in spring of 2008). But even all that wasn't enough for these musical journeypersons - they added two more members (violinist Phil Davidson and sax player Leila Henley), bringing their number to a lucky seven just in time to play Iron Maiden's "Number of the Beast" in its entirety and totally re-arranged for Halloween. As 2007 comes to a close, the I-Czars have heavy regional touring plans to support the release of their "Nutcracker Suite" CD, as well as a return to the studio to record the mountains of new material that the year has generated.
