The Sound of Urchin

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

- The Sound of Urchin is an "arena" style hard guitar-rock band with a national "outsider-rock" following, regularly headlining full u.s. small club tours! - SOU has two lead guitarists and a singing drummer - SOU has an energetic, passionate and aggressive old-school rock n' roll power attitude ala Thin Lizzy, but a sound that is diverse, based on the song, and can go from sweet twisted pop to brutal metal rock. - Urchin are from New Hope PA & Brooklyn NY. - Urchin has released albums on RCA Records and Hybrid Recordings, and is currently shopping their new album "Rejoice" - contact us at tomato11@soundofurchin.com and we'll send you a copy! (SOU'S "REJOICE" IS THE RETURN OF THE GUITAR ROCK ALBUM! It is a 16 track hard rock ride) - Members of SOU come from the Ween family of musicians and have played/recorded with them for years, but don't sound like them. Also, members of SOU play in Dean Ween's side band "The Moistboyz" and with Zappa Alumni in "Project Object". - Urchin have spent the past 3 years headlining their own U.S. club tours (usually doing 33 shows in 36 days like the Fall 2007 Tour), playing to a very loyal and mental cult-fanbase ... But in the past has also toured with Tenacious D, Ween, Mike Watt, Dio/Scorpions/Deep Purple, Cracker, Slightly Stoopid, North Mississippi Allstars, and more, plus festivals like X-Games, Gravity Games, Berkfest, to name a few. - SOU's last album, "The Diamond", produced a minor cult hit "There Are People in The Clouds" which was performed live on the CBS Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, as well as being a featured song on WSOU FM, the nation's leading college radio station. SOU also had feature article in Metal Edge magazine, as well as articles in Guitar World, Spin.com and Rolling Stone.com, among many others. - Urchin has recorded with Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne), James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins), Keith Cleversley (Flaming Lips), Dean Ween, Chris Shaw (Dylan, Weezer, Public Enemy), and Jay Jay French (Twisted Sister). - You havent heard of The Sound of Urchin because of the main focus on cookie cutter type bands in all genres these days, and SOU is not one of those bands... SOU makes their own music from their own experience, personalities and creativity... and is always searching for new songs... and isn't that why people make and listen to music anyway?
