DEL CASTILLO has become a nationally recognized cross-cultural phenomenon with their unique blend of Flamenco, Rock, Latin, Blues, and World music. The band was founded by guitarist brothers Rick and Mark del Castillo and is fronted by charismatic vocalist Alex Ruiz, backed by the rock-solid rhythm of Albert Besteiro (bass), Mike Zeoli (drums), and Carmelo Torres (percussion). Since releasing their first CD, Brothers of the Castle in 2001, the band has gone on to win ten Austin Music Awards, including “Band of the Year,” and “Album of the Year” for their second CD, Vida. Their current CD, Brotherhood, was released in 2006 to critical acclaim and won “Album of the Year” at the 2007 Austin Music Awards during South By Southwest. They have toured extensively throughout the country, sharing stages with Ozomatli, Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys, Kinky, deSol, and many other name acts. They have performed at three Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnics, at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival, and at two ACL Music Festivals, and they have made numerous national and local TV appearances. Thanks to their close working relationship with Robert Rodriguez, their music has been heard in Kill Bill, Vol.2, Once Upon A Time In Mexico, and Spy Kids 3D: Game Over, and they performed at the film premiers in Los Angeles, New York, and Austin, respectively.
