Tom Brosseau was born and raised in North Dakota, now lives in Los Angeles - a writer, and a troubadour who performs spare, beautiful, mesmerizing songs. He is "totally earthbound and at the same time sorta out there in the ether." - NPR's All Things Considered – Tom Moon The latest record, Cavalier (FatCat Records 2007) was produced by John Parish (PJ Harvey), recorded in Bristol UK. Cavalier explores an inner territory - the companion to Tom's earlier 2007 release, Grand Forks (Loveless Records), with its tales of his hometown territory's 1997 flood devastation. Cavalier: “almost unbearably intimate, and featuring some of Brosseau’s most heartbreakingly gorgeous songs to date.” - KEXP “[H]is is the raw silk voice, a neutral tool which can be dyed for mood and richness, its properties changing as lyrics move from dark to light.” - Drowned in Sound “It's that ethereal voice that really separates Brosseau from the pack. Well, that and his endearing naivete onstage. …like witnessing the cryogenic thawing of Gene Autry but without the sappy residue: Brosseau's in the saddle all right, but his is a much bumpier ride.” - Time Out Chicago [W}hen Tom Brosseau opens his mouth to sing, it becomes immediately clear…that this man is playing for keeps.” - Philadelphia Inquirer You can catch a couple of videos by onetakenewyork/blogotheque http://www.blogotheque.net/article.php3?id_article=2993
