"..One moment the gifted lone operator affects the kind of trenchant rock-riff panache associated with the younger Bowie, the next he's rattling off urban nightlife images with the droll elegance of The Kinks..." **** The Independent "...A gem of a debut packed with invention.." NME Just over a year since Stoney independently released his brilliant debut ‘The Scene & the Unseen’ to much critical acclaim, he returns to SXSW fresh from recording sessions for his new record in Atlanta and with a live set of stunning new songs. Stoney writes, records, produces & plays nearly all the instruments on his records himself (all but drums), and largely recorded them on a humble setup at his Sheffield home, giving him a truly unique and distinctive production style. His previous home grown releases have won him an ever growing fanbase, glowing press and many champions across the board at UK radio including Jonathan Ross, Phil Jupitus, Tom Robinson, Dermot O’Leary, Janice Long and Marc Riley among many others. Having had three “records of the week” on the iTunes to date, Stoney’s profile has been raised across the pond to US audiences; tastemaker DJ Nic Harcourt got hold of a copy of his record and fell in love with it, championing Stoney from his LA Based KCRW radio show and landing him several forthcoming hollywood film & TV syncs in 08. Along with the backing of a revolving cast of excellent musicians to take his songs to the stage, Stoney has quickly forged a reputation as an exhilarating live performer. As well as his own headline gigs and national radio sessions, Stoney and his band have been invited on tour by the likes of the Arctic Monkeys, Feeder, Athlete, & Jamie T.
