In the sixteen years since songs were first distributed online, the worlds of technology and entertainment have been at loggerheads in terms of creating systems to distribute and monetize music. Technology marches on, bringing devices that embody the long-envisioned 'celestial jukebox.' Given that payment for music is now essentially voluntary, what can be done to compensate creators?
