“Unique, real, compelling, and beautiful – words that describe L.A. Music Awards Female Singer-Songwriter of the Year.” After winning Female Singer/Songwriter of the Year for the 2005 Los Angeles Music Awards, Manda traveled to Guantanamo Bay to perform for the U.S. troops, an experience both difficult and eye opening. “It’s intense how these boys live, so far removed from their life before service, a life trialed in hardship in comparison to the typical American lifestyle. They’re willing to sacrifice absolutely everything for their country. The most fulfilling thing about touring and performing for new groups of people is taking in these individuals’ lives, daily routines, seeing what basic things are still important to all people regardless of locale, religion, and race.” Manda went on to win the LAMA for Indie Rock Single of the Year for “Mr. Madness” in 2006. Manda performed at the 1st Annual Pasadena Blues Festival, Indie 103.1/Swing House’s Summer Strummer Festival, Berklee’s Neil Young Tribute at SXSW, and Jeff Buckley’s Official Birthday Tribute. She recently picked up playing the harmonica after she was given a Memphis Blues Harp toy souvenir. Manda is now regularly seen sitting in at the local blues jams fine tuning her chops. What’s next? Manda is in the studio with Israeli producer Guy Erez, working on her first full length record entitled "Keeps On Turning." When listening to the first three tracks on the record, one will certainly feel the influence of Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Bruce Springsteen. With distinctive Hammond B3 parts, jangly guitars, comfortable grooves, haunting harmonica, and sultry vocals layered with delicate understated harmonies. Manda delivers a female vocal of unique expression. She’s planning to finish the record in November of 2007. Shows this past year include: Swing House & The Viper Room Invade SXSW (sponsored by Cirius), Berklee’s Pete Townshend Tribute at SXSW, Cleochella at Tangier (the indie answer to Coachella), an Australian Tour playing in Melbourne and Sydney, MUSEXPO's Showcase Series in Los Angeles as well as a featured track on MMUSEXPO's compilation CD, and most recently Star 98.7's sponsored 2nd Annual Summer Strummer Festival, and KCRW's sponsored Knitting Factory Show.
