Standard, they make their first demo cd, recorded in their rehearsal room, and go and win the Demo Proyect of Benicasim festival….and go and are invited to play in London…and go to play in Ireland and Italy…and go and are called to play in festivals….and think: “Just one Demo Tape!!!!” But it takes nothing to sign their first record contract…and directly the media is proposing interviews and being song of the month in a lot of Spanish radios, Mtv recommend the new video as an MTV band of the month, etc, and still they are talking being Standard people. None of them understands, but people start to understand. And they see their shows and people nod, this time it´s going to happen. Finally they finish their CD in collaboration with Carlos Hernandez (Los Planetas, Deluxe, Niza, etc) and they reach to include the sound of their live-gigs. The result is Dance and Rock, both, mixed, united and separated to get to the end of “3.000V 40.000W”, the first album from Standard, a band that fascinated many people with its live gigs, when a band makes its music feel. Then EMI publishing sings the band... Next big thing they said... The hit single is “On the floor” and nothing more. Everybody agrees that it´s the song of the album, although it is followed by “Txusma”, “ The Happy Song” or “The Pill Song (Wowee)”. “On The Floor” is included on spot of the tv campaing of Fib 2006 in MTV UK, France and Spain. On The Floor is gonna be included on Half Cocked with other bands as Come or Stereolab. Control K remix On the Floor. Control K made remixes for Sons and daughters or Mogwai. And now it´s clear who will be the producer of the second album os Standard. We have the great pleasure to announce that the album will be recorded and produced in London by Andy Gill, from Gang of Four, one of the most acclaimed bands of the last times, and who kept going with their own records with the best agility. Their classic “Entertaiment” doesn´t lose freshness in live shows, in the original format or in films (one of the songs was included in the recent “Marie Antonniette”). Andy Gill has produced albums of bands such as Futureheads, Young Knives, The Stranglers, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Killing Joke or their own albums with Gang of Four, and many people says of him words like this: "Gang of Four knew how to swing. I stole a lot from them."- Michael Stipe (R.E.M.) "Gang of Four is the first rock band I could truly relate to... These limies rocked my world."- Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) “(They) took no prisoners. It was art meets the devil via James Brown"- Michael Hutchence (INXS) "Hard, angular, bold... A Gang of Four metal guru, a corporation of common sense, a smart bomb of text that had me 'at home feeling like a typist.'"- Bono (U2) It´s not a joke, mates, let´s get ready to dance. Keep an eye... double somersault without net.
