Z-Trip (born Zach Sciacca) is one of the most influential turntablists of our time. Performing over 100 shows a year, he is also known as the founding father of the mash-up movement. His early independent releases have become highly sought after collectibles, the most notable being 1996’s Uneasy Listening which today fetches as much as $500.00 on EBay. As a top festival act, no other DJ can claim playing to 500,000 people opening for the Rolling Stones at Sars-stock in Toronto, gracing Tennessee’s Bonnaroo main stage to over 70,000 people two years in a row, headlining a tent at Coachella--twice—and appearing at the Good Vibrations Festival in Australia 2006 as the main draw. All of this backed by his U.S. and international headlining sold out shows and multiple club residencies in cities like Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Z-Trip’s 2005 major label debut Shifting Gears (Hollywood Records) was given **** (4 out of 5 stars) by Rolling Stone. The first single “Walking Dead” went Top 20 and featured Chester Bennington of Linkin Park. The album also spawned two #1 singles on the college charts with “Listen to the DJ” featuring Soup of Jurassic 5 and “Shock and Awe” featuring Chuck D. All Pro (Decon/2K Sports) followed in the summer of 2007 and featured collaborations with Rakim, Chali 2NA (Jurassic 5), Casual and Pep Love (Hieroglyphics), along with remixes of The Deftones and Rush. Z-Trip’s most recent offering is Ahead Of The Curve, an album he produced and co-wrote with Lateef The Truth Speaker. As a master of the remix, his repertoire includes stand out re-workings of The Jackson 5's "I Want You Back" from Motown Remixed and Nirvana’s “Lounge Act”—the first officially licensed remix of the iconic band ever allowed. The track appears on EA’s Skate soundtrack which Z-Trip composed, scored and produced original music for. To date, the game has sold over two million copies. Z-Trip is also a featured artist in the Doug Pray-directed movies "Scratch" and "Scratch Live" alongside Q-Bert, Mix Master Mike and originators of the art form like Afrika Bambatta and Jazzy Jay. In addition he has appeared in "Brainfreeze" and "Product Placement,” two live concerts which feature DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist.
