Mona De Bo is an artistically bright example of indie rock from Riga, Latvia. Comprising only two members - Edgars Eihmanis (drums) and Edgars Rubenis (guitar, vocals) - Mona De Bo creates a sophisticatedly twisted mixture, which could be loosely defined as garage rock, folk and experimental noise. Now and then Mona De Bo has been compared to Black Keys and Death From Above 1979. Particularly live performances - as the responsive audiences have noted – are where Mona's musical scope and possibilities are revealed the most. According to numerous indie and underground music fans, Mona De Bo's adventurous sonic journeys hold the audiences riveted at the delivery of high rock'n'roll energies, noisy experiments and colourful melodies. Since its formation in 2005 Mona De Bo has played gigs together with such names as Battles (US), Tribes of the City (LV), Tramplini (LV), No Means No (CAN); Lithuanian and Estonian indie bands as part of the Go See Your Neighbour! tour in the Baltics, as well as participated in the significant indie festival PLINK PLONK in Tartu, Estonia. At the moment the duo is preparing to record a debut album, which will sum up everything characterizing Mona De Bo - their expressive energies and rhythms, melodies interwoven with guitar and vocals, and clean, blazing noise. Not exaclty white, but certainly impressive.
