THE OSTRICH TESTIMONIES tells the dramatic story of the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch near Tucson, Arizona, where in 2002, two hot-air balloons triggered a stampede of 1,600 ostriches. Over half of Cogburn's valuable birds died or were badly injured, and his dream of founding the ostrich capital of the world was shattered. The narrative of D.C. Cogburn's devastating loss is combined with a history of the ostrich industry, home movies of the Cogburn family starting the ranch, and accounts of expert witnesses who participated in the 7-million dollar lawsuit that followed the accident. Together these 'testimonies' reveal the operations of an eccentric industry and the emotions of a family that risked everything to fulfill its dream.
