Solid Gold is a body of artists striving to combine the relationships of love, loss, beauty, nature, war, confusion, distance, and fate, into a musical and visual representation of the times to come. They have created a unified mix of atmospheric planes and urban grit. Not without influence. Help has been had along the way, most recently by city-mate POS, on a yet un-released track, and in the past by an ex-member now with Brooklyn’s Professor Murder. 2007 was met by a band eager to move and create. Solid Gold began the year recording in a remote cabin on a frozen lake in February. They emerged to spend the entire week of SXSW ’07 in mariachi suits. They continued to record throughout the year in basements, farmhouses, and city apartments, all leaving their own sonic traces. In June the band won the “Let’s Get Physical” put on by WeSC and Vice. They were flown to London to play at Vice’s Old Blue Last for the WeSC summer party. The climax of the year was reached when Solid Gold headlined a sold-out opening night performance at the Iceland Airwaves festival, with a large crowd outside clamoring to get in. They played four more shows in Reykjavik, all to ecstatic audiences. As one of only 12 American bands, they shined as a favorite among festival goers and Icelandic natives. Solid Gold, now based in Minneapolis, released the "Who you gonna run to?" ep on February 19th, 2008. The ep features two tracks off their forthcoming album, one b-side, and three remixes. They will follow up this ep with their epic full-length album “Bodies Of Water” this summer. This album, produced by Ryan Olcott(12 Rods, Mystery Palace) continues to explore unique instrumentation and composition, pairing circuit-bent organs with classical violin and opera singing, juxtaposing banjo with harsh electronic beats. It enters the realm where digital and analog meet as a focused sound of the future. Nowhere else, and at no time before, has this music been accomplished. Solid Gold is now looking for a respectable label to release their LP.
