Sholi is a San Francisco Bay Area quartet consisting of guitarist/singer Payam Bavafa, drummer Jonathon Bafus, bassist/engineer Eric Ruud, and multi-instrumentalist Greg Hagel. They have been recording their debut LP with Greg Saunier of Deerhoof producing. They've previously released a 3-song EP, a 7" split with the Dead Science on KDVS Recordings, and in January, 2008, a 7" of lovingly-crafted covers of 70's Iranian pop-diva Googoosh and American folk-artist Joanna Newsom on the Holocene Music record label, which they followed up with a NY / West Coast release tour. They have toured the West-Coast numerous times and shared the stage with: Xiu Xiu, Dirty Projectors, USAISAMONSTER, Castanets, The Dead Science, The Gris Gris, Imaad Wasif (alaska!, YYY's), Erase Errata, Experimental Dental School, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, Carla Bozulich, 31 Knots, The Advantage, and Marnie Stern.
