Something With Numbers biography 2007 So what’s the story with Something With Numbers? 2007 brings us a band that has finally come of age – after 4 years of ground work and hundreds of shows the band has grown into one of Australia’s best loved rock bands. They have released an EP (Barnacles & Stripes)and debut album (Etiquette)that sat on the top of the indie charts for months & years of steady touring & opening for numerous international acts but things didn’t really start to heat up until the band released Apple of the Eye (Lay me Down) in September 2006. It presented the band their first Top 40 position & was followed a month later by the release of the bands second album Perfect Distraction, which also debuted in the Top 40. Recorded & produced by Phil McKellar, Perfect Distraction is a pop record at heart, 11 songs filled with killer choruses, hooks and kick arse rock riffs. It also provided the band with their first opportunity to tour the USA where they joined good friends The Matches and MC Lars on a three week run that covered 18 shows from the West to the East coast. What has happened since has seen Something With Numbers, do the main stage at Homebake, Pyramid Festival, Big Day Out & Soundwave festivals main stage nationally. As well as a killer NYE show with Silverchair in Newcastle. This was shortly followed by Apple of The Eye (Lay me Down) being voted in at #64 on the Triple J Hottest 100 by over 600,000 listeners. This is on top of a sold out album tour, an east coast all ages only tour, and a national run with Panic at the Disco. April 2007 saw the band release its third single “Goodbye Mickey Finn”, combined with an incredible film clip shot in Japan and a 45 date National tour covering every major city in Australia as well as 30 regional cities. They spent August, September & October as special guests on Grinspoons National tour, and were also asked to be special guests on the biggest Australian tour of the year with Silverchair and Powderfinger in Bendigo & Wollongong.Adding to a year that contained 116 live shows. To top off a successful year Something With Numbers have been nominated for two Aria Awards for "Breakthrough Artist -Single" for Apple of the Eye and Phil McKeller for Best Producer for Perfect Distraction as well as Channel [V]Oz Artist Of The Year. 2008 sees the band confirmed for the main stage nationally on the Big Day Out and then heading over to New York to start recording their new album with acclaimed producer Tim O Heir. Good things take time. Something With Numbers just might be one of those good things.
