America, fuck yeah. Weatherbox - American Art [4.5/5] Doghouse Records must slip something in their A&R reps' Vitamin Waters daily; from the Get Up Kids to the All-American Rejects to Say Anything, the label has consistently discovered new talent and delivered scene-changing records. And not to get all hyperbolic on you, but prepare to look back on American Art, the full-length debut from San Diego quartet Weatherbox, with the same fondness and hushed reverence as Four Minute Mile and ...Is A Real Boy. Seriously, it's that good. Frontman Brian Warren willingly exposes his psyche over 50 minutes, letting the listener get a better grasp on what it's like to be a reckless, aimless, drugged-out teenager in 2007, while his band musically fuse together Cursive, Criteria, Say Anything and other progressive post-hardcore groups who are capable of rocking out smartly and with purpose. I'd mention the standout tracks, but there's not enough space to list all 13 songs. Buy this record with confidence; champion it with conviction; memorize it with dedication. But most importantly, love it unquestionably-it will change your life if you let it. Alternative Press
