CECI BASTIDA Unsigned Indie Artist Ceci Bastida was born and raised in Tijuana, Mexico. At the age of 15, she joined Tijuana NO as a lead vocalist, keyboardist and songwriter and became one of the first women to rise in the ranks of Latin rock. One of Mexico’s most important ska-punk bands of the 1990s, Tijuana NO performed together for 12 years and recorded three albums. In 2000, Ceci joined the band of Mexican alterna-pop icon and top-selling Sony/BMG recording artist Julieta Venegas and has been singing back-up vocals and playing keyboards with her ever since. Ceci is now embarking on her first project as a solo artist, going back and forth between Los Angeles, Austin, and Mexico working with various musicans and producers such as Jason Roberts (Plastilina Mosh/Control Machete). The result- FRONT BC (as in Frontera Baja California as you would see on a license plate) the 3-song EP out on Bastida’s own Agualava Records (distributed by Digital Pressure). The EP has been an instant hit on iTunes appearing on their “What’s Hot” main page and charting on iTunes Latino. As of late Ceci has been getting exposure on influential radio station KCRW and performed live on Morning Becomes Eclectic (link of performance: http://www.kcrw.com/music/programs/mb/mb070713ceci_bastida ), Nic Harcourt has been supportive playing the single “Ya Me Voy” and also even playing demos such as “Canta El Rio” and “Empieza Amanecer” Bastida’s collaboration with Michael Ramos (Charanga Cakewalk/Migrant’s Masterpiece: The Life & Legacy of Patricio Flores). Ceci just performed in NYC during the Latin Alternative Music Conference and is now playing in shows in and around Los Angeles.
