DORIAN BIOGRAPHY Dorian appeared in 2002 with the common aim of achieving a sound that combined the tradition of Spanish pop music and contemporary electronics. In 2003, Dorian won the first prize in the demo contest of the Festival Zorrok, sharing stage with some of the most important independent pop bands from Spain (Los Planetas, Sexy Sadie). Soon afterwards they would act in O’Porto (Portugal), the multidisciplinary festival MIFOC in the Balkans and in numerous concerts halls all around Spain, which provided them with a solid live show which helped them with the releasing of their first album “10.000 Metrópolis” (Bip bip Records- K Industria 2004). “10.000 Metropolis” was their extraordinary and personal debut album, which showed the premature maturity of Dorian, who gained the favour of the public and the critical acclaim, who bowed to the verses of songs such as “Solar” or “Te echamos de menos”, resounding hit that has been incorporated in at least 12 compilations. The releasing of their first album lead them to an extensive tour which brought them to the most important clubs and festivals all around Spain: (Benicássim, Primavera Sound, Expresa Pamplona, Festival Do Norte, Festival Tendencias, Indirama, Low Club, Razzmatazz, Apolo, Stereo, El Cau, Festival BAM…) In 2005, Bip bip Records released a new edition of “10.000 Metrópolis”: “10.000 Metrópolis remixes”, which included an album of remixes of some of the most popular songs of the band revised by some of the most important DJs of the Spanish electronics scene, among them DJ Undo (Razzmatazz / The Loft), Ferenc (Nitsa – Apolo), or DJ Coco (Nitsa – Apolo). In October 2006 Dorian released their second album in the independent international label Pias Spain “El futuro no es de nadie”, which supposed a revolution in Spanish pop music due to freshness of their songs and their peculiar sound, which combines the tradition of the best Spanish pop music, the melodic side of contemporary electronics and the energy and urgency of Rock music. It is remarkable the impeccable production of Maxi Ruiz, member of the celebrated duo Ferenc (Kompakt) and the powerful mastering of Andy Baldwin (Starsailor, Coldplay, The Orb, Richard Aschcroft). “El futuro no es de nadie” integrates 10 perfect pop songs where the melodies by Marc Gili and the electronic arrangements by Belly constitute the focal point of a direct and transparent sound. Their song “Cualquier Otra Parte” revealed as a true electropop hit whose lyrics and melody have made bleed the hearts of thousands of lovers of visceral pop music. The success of this album was due the strong impact in people of emotive songs such as “Cualquier otra parte” (which has become a true hymn), “La playa bajo el asfalto” or “El futuro no es de nadie”, tracks of explicit political content which has showed that the dance floor can also serve as a mean to express social concerns. Dorian has become one of the most solid realities of Spanish Pop music. The band ended the summer of 2007 with a record of live acts in festivals after finishing a winter-spring tour that made upside down the concerts halls of Spain, putting the sold out signs in 49 consecutive dates. Dorian’s career is about to take a new turn with its international expansion, with the upcoming release of a single in the UK in the label Naked Man.
