The Victorian English Gentlemens club are a 3 piece contemporary music group based in Cardiff, UK. In their short time on this earth, they have released a full length album and three singles on Fantastic Plastic Records (London). The album was very well received, with superb reviews in most major UK publications. They have toured the UK and Europe, played a packed show at SXSW 2007, have done many recorded and live radio session for Radio 1, 6music, XFM, appeared on Pancake Mountain (USA) have acquired a USA publishing deal. They are currently creating their awkward second album. The Victorian English Gentlemens Club formed when Adam Taylor and Louise Mason lost most of their friends. They at first enticed local drummer Emma Daman to band practice by promises of cups of tea. Their first gig was by their own account god-awful and where most art students would have given up and started making installations out of things they found in a skip, the inanely plucky trio decided instead to carry on. Many motorway service stations later they returned with their self-titled first album. Inspired by dead babies and prohibition, it received rabid reviews and sales have now allowed the band to stop selling Emma’s virginity on ebay. The band will freely describe their music as Pop although they have been known to play songs without a chorus. It has also been described as Rock, although they sometimes use a glockenspiel, and Punk, despite their enjoyment of effects pedals and natural fibres. They are very pleased to meet you.
