HEAVy is the collaborative brainchild of singer Nicky Guiland and keyboardist Casey Benjamin. Hailing from the rich hotbed of musical heritage that is Jamaica, Queens, NY, the two have seized the baton from their wide range of influences: from Minnie Ripperton to Roger Troutman to N*E*R*D to Timbaland, to create a fresh style full of bright, youthful energy. If you like Black Eyed Peas, Pharrell, Gwen Stefani – you will like HEAVy. Their debut album, "JAzzmonEY$$", is a vibrant synthesis of soul, pop, hip-hop and rock. HEAVy merges their influences with a bit of '80's nostalgia to create an undeniably unique and timely sound. With Nicky drawing favorable comparisons to a young Chaka Khan and Casey playing off Nicky's etherealisms on keys and with his distinctive production, HEAVy updates the Groove Theory model of the 'power duo' to fantastic results with seemingly limitless possibilities. "HEAVy is the future of the funk with mass to the core. Their dynamic musical brilliance is sure to blow yo' mind." -DJ Spinna "So many forms of hip-hop, jazz hip-hop, and pop hip-hop have been created, but the incarnation of HEAVy is one of the most organic and unpretentious ones yet." - Q-Tip "HEAVy are major talents with so much to offer the music world. Keep listening... " – Mos Def
