S-S-S-Spectres--Brooklyn's latest 4-piece music group slash amateur theosophists slash secret society--sail the no waves and the new waves in a ramshackle ship of jerky percussion and skittish bass, through breakers of gang vocals and chants, amidst a squall of shrieks from a vintage organ and a home-built, 12-string guitar. They navigate the unknown waters somewhere east of Old Time Relijun, The Contortions, Six Finger Satellite, or Arab on Radar, and west of The Fall, The Slits, or Birthday Party, searching for sun, sea and piracy. Their members did hard time in the music scenes of Providence, Austin and San Francisco before coming together in the New York Isles. Now they've got an EP out on New York Night Train Recordings, a single forthcoming on Kayrock Records and a full length in the works. Rumor is now their taking their bizarre live show (where they've been known to play blindfolded or tied together with rope, or in the dark after passing out flashlights to everyone in the audience) up and down the east coast. Throw your peg legs in the air, and wave 'em like you just don't care...
