Like the euro-disco love-child of Giorgio Moroder and Scott Walker, Fantasy Mirrors' songwriting has a heart and warmth missing from the vast majority of modern electronic music. The boys have had a very busy year building their profile in NYC and their hometown of Boston while simultaneously recording their debut concept album loosely based on 20,000 Leagues Under The Seas. They were handpicked by Freezepop to open their album release show in September. They opened for Canadian Electro-Rockers Shout Out Out Out Out and nearly upstaged them, and they killed it at a performance with Hall-and-Oates-meets-disco outfit Tiger City. A pop band with a knack for melody and drama. Boston's DIY multi-media emperor and synthesizer-player Michael Potvin and bizarro-world MOR crooner Nathanael Bluhm began writing and performing together as CASSETTE in 2004. The duo became FANTASY MIRRORS in 2007 with the addition of Patrick Dole on bass, and Joseph Wawrzyn on synthesizers. The Boston Globe called several songs from their first independent release, the 2005 ep, Broadway Showstoppers, "would-be anthems" delivered in a "dreamy, Scott Walker-croon." The Boston Phoenix called a second, unofficially-released CD-R from 2005, "sooooo good: sad-baritone emoting on some Stephen Merritt/Calvin Johnson gay-cowboy shit plus dry, ersatz-audio synthpunk accompaniment" They have played their subversive pop music for audiences in 11 states plus the District of Columbia. Boston's Weekly Dig has proclaimed, "If you love electro-pop and haven't seen [Fantasy Mirrors], well, then you don't really love electro-pop."
