The way we work today involves heavy-duty collaboration online. We're using tools that, on their own, are pretty lightweight to get things done - we're keeping one another appraised of our status, blogging the inspirations that move our work forward, and generally keeping a finger on each others' pulses as we move through our days. But is all of that making us any more productive? As we have to manage more and more of our colleagues and friends through these tools, the appeal of "Friend List Zero" tends to grow. How can we manage to stay productive while maintaining our presence online? We'll discuss how we use the tools we love, how they help (and hurt) us get things done, and strategies for finding a balance.
