As of February 2008, Goes Cube is all set to headline a show that is a part of the BAM Next Fest, and to embark on its 3rd significant US tour (past tours have been with bands such as Giraffes, and Foreign Islands). Their EP "Beckon The Dagger God" sold out in 2007. But in its place, the band will have along a limited-edition, hand-numbered, tour-only EP called "Not What We Thought," which is already gaining overwhelmingly positive reviews from the press (including Stereogum and EarFarm). Though the band is only a trio, they have the reputation of being one of New York's loudest and heaviest bands going. Kenny Appell hits his drums so hard, he literally destroys cymbals and drum heads within a 40 minute set. Meanwhile, Matthew Frey deals out relentless bass riffs without any pointless noodling. Finally David Obuchowski screams and practically beats his strangely tuned, super loud, and incredibly distorted guitar to death. And yet, for all the chaos, the band imbues melodies and atmosphere in every song without any samples or synthesizers. For a town that is lacking many heavy/hard rock acts, Goes Cube has been pleasing the city's fans of heavy music and admirers of other bands such as Isis, Helmet, Quicksand, Mastodon, Deftones, and Pelican.
